Westmont, Illinois 60559
Westmont is a village located in DuPage County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 24,554.
Westmont was developed largely due to the Great Chicago Fire. Following the blaze, Chicago building codes called for all new structures to be built of brick, rather than lumber. The William Gregg Brick Company, located in Westmont, provided most of the brick used in the rebuilding of the city.
Westmont offers a unique collection of homes that range from over 100 years of age, to homes of each generation. Westmont has witnessed one of the highest teardown/new construction rates in DuPage County. The main line of the BNSF Railway also served by Metra commuter rail pass through downtown Westmont.Interstate Highways 355, 294 and 88 pass nearby. Westmont is served by the Pace Bus Service.
